I like the Silver, I like the Gold takes its influence from the phenomena of exhibition previews and represents the artist's investigation into the possibility that such events can allow access to a new imaginative space.

I like the Silver, I like the Gold is an expanded exhibition. It takes its influence from the phenomena of exhibition previews and represents the artist's investigation into the possibility that such events can allow access to a new imaginative space.

This performance was a showcase of new works by Susie Green. 6 collections of work were displayed over 45 minutes in seductively lit surroundings. 2 models Alina Kropiwnicka and Rachael Gay worked together to display the works in sequence for 5 minutes at a time.

Throughout the performance donations to the artist were invited and the audience was asked to add any to a circle on the floor, marking the stage area, which was comprised of fruit, nuts and healthy snacks. At no point were the audience allowed access into the display areas marked by the circle.

Throughout each of the 6 modelling sessions the models brought an artwork into the circle, the lighting was raised, and the artwork title and description was announced by Susie Green. Music was started and the session began. Artworks were held and worn in a series of poses directed by the artist and photographed by the photographer Mat Fleming and Susie Green. The audience was largely ignored during this process. After five minutes an alarm sounded marking the end of each session, artworks were placed in the perimeter of the circle, lights and music lowered and the cycle repeated with another artwork.

Unusual lightweight props will facilitate different methods of display. Taking inspiration from fashion shows, auctions, parlour games and holistic exercise, the environment will be both formal and playful.

Green's work is situated at the intersection between art and fashion. She is intrigued by how we give meaning and power to certain objects in our lives. She enjoys the protective and transformative nature of clothing, whereby fantasy can be made visible and one can both hide or reveal oneself. Her work has a similar ambiguity, a lightness of touch and an interest in the human, the emotional and the inherently tactile.

I like the Silver, I like the Gold will be shown for one night only.

Susie Green was was born in 1979 in Shrewsbury, UK and currently lives in Newcastle upon Tyne. Recent exhibitions include: Detail Ohne Titel, Hobrechtstraße 26, Berlin (2012); Get Done, Kotti Shop, Berlin, (2012); Sexy Being, Headlam House, Newcastle (2011) Modern Empire, La Scatola Gallery, London (2011) and New Contemporaries, Cornerhouse Manchester / A Foundation, London (2009).
