As part of Northern Charter presents studio artist Sophie Buxton has invited Tess Denman-Cleaver, Nadia Hebson, Catrin Huber, Alexandra Hughes and Fiona Larkin to explore their work in relation to montage. Through a process of discussion and sharing of material the artists consider questions around the incidental, accumulation, appropriation, how connections multiply between images, how complete can a thing in itself ever be. Occupying a space between the studio table and the exhibition space, the event opens up the temporal and active process of montage.
